Orientation Student Coordinators (OSC)

The OSC position is a full-year commitment that is designed to offer students the opportunity to coordinate and implement various activities for the OL Team. This includes what leads up to and occurs during Inbound, RISE, International Student Orientation, and Fall Orientation/Welcome Days and various other orientation programs.

All OSCs must be an OL for at least one year prior, in order to apply for the OSC position.

The OSCs have specific areas he/she focuses on from the following: Recruitment/Selection, Training/Development, and Orientation Initiatives. Each OSC also serves as "generalists" to help maintain the functions of orientation, transition, and retention efforts as it aligns to the New Student Program’s office mission/goals.

Orientation Leaders (OL)

The OL position is designed to offer students the opportunity to implement orientation programming for new students, transfer students, and family members. OLs are expected to be knowledgeable about the University of Illinois and have a desire to help new students have a successful transition. OLs will attend Spring Leadership meetings to develop student leaders for New Student Program events. OLs will assist at various events RISE, Inbound, Intersect, International Student Orientation, and Fall Orientation/Welcome Days and various other orientation programs.

The OL application process occurs in the Fall semester with group interviews. If you are interested in being an OL please email us at newstudent@illinois.edu or if you would like to nominate someone to be an OL please complete the online nomination form.
